VandalMail-The Communications Medium of UI
VandalMail can be said the central e-communication tool for the University of Idaho. Colleges and departments will only communicate with you by e-mail at your VandalMail e-mail address beginning with your enrollment at the University of Idaho.

Create your Idaho email account as soon as possible.
This will be the ONLY email address used by university departments other than the College of Law throughout the summer (e.g., financial aid).

To get started, you’ll need your student ID number.
Please bear in mind that your student ID number was given in the “Email Setup Instructions” email we received you right after you completed your seat deposit, not in your admissions letter, as advised on the University of Idaho VandalWeb Login page.

Once your University of Idaho account has been created, you can begin using it immediately. This account is more than just an email address; it is your access point to all IT services, such as managing your financial aid in VandalWeb, submitting assignments in BBLearn, and scheduling online sessions with your professors and academic counselors in VandalStar. Here’s a step-by-step tutorial on setting up this account!
Now lets start the VandalMail account Management Process. It is advisable to use a desktop or laptop for better user interface.
The first step
Access the Account Management Portal by visiting help.uidaho.edu/security/reset Image.
- Select I’m not a robot.
- Look for your account using your V number, which may be found on your admission letter or in an email sent to the personal email address you used when you first spoke with the U of I.
- Select an email or phone number from the list and click Lookup.
- Click the Send Code button.
- Once you’ve received the code, type it into the “Enter Verification Code” box.
- This code will be delivered to the email or phone number you specified in step 3.
- Press the Continue button.

Step 2: Generate a Password.
Once you’ve accessed the Account Management portal, click Change Password on the left to create a password for your account.
Make sure you take a note of the username at the top of the page.
This is your login for all UI services including VandalMail Login and is the first component of your university email address.
Your username consists of the first four letters of your surname followed by four numbers.
Vand1234 is an example.

Step 3: Make a Security Profile.
A security profile consists of a set of questions that only you can answer and one personal contact, such as a mobile phone number or email address. Please do not utilize contacts that you do not own.
You will be able to reset your password in the future without having to contact the Student Technology Center.

4. Enter 1 contact information, such as a personal mobile phone number or email address.

Step 4: Safeguard Your Account.
The University of Idaho uses Duo MFA to improve account security.
When you initially log in to any U of I webpage, you will be prompted to set up Duo.
1. Press the Start setup button.
2. Select your device type from the drop-down menu and click Continue.
3. Enter your phone number, tick the box underneath, and press the Continue button.
4. Select Call Me or Text Me.
5. After receiving the 6-digit code on your phone, input it into the box and click Verify.
6. Keep going.
7. Click Continue to Login.
Step 5: Get Access to Your Email
Visit mail.uidaho.edu to access your student email account.
Your email address will be your username and will finish with @vandals.uidaho.edu.
Vand1234@vandals.uidaho.edu, for example. The password will be the one set in Step 2.
Can I begin using my VandalMail before I actually enroll at UI?
Yes, you may use your VandalMail e-mail account as soon as it is activated!
